While many might associate Long Island's East End with summer getaways and nautical adventures, the area is just desirable during the fall months, with various hamlets showcasing the flavors of fall through local farm stands. Whether you’re hunting for pumpkins, craving fresh cider donuts, or looking to support local farmers, these destinations are a must-visit this autumn. Here are several throughout the area worth visiting, as recommended by Hamptons Real Estate Agents from Brown Harris Stevens.

Round Swamp Farm in East Hampton and Quail Hill Farm in Amagansett are among her top picks, offering everything from fresh produce to box shares. Each stop guarantees a unique and flavorful experience that embodies the best of the East End’s autumn harvest.

For Michael Petersohn, Balsam Farms in Amagansett is a seasonal highlight. “The produce is unbelievable, and the corn is the best on the East End," he said. Joining their co-op adds to the fun, as each week delivers a surprise basket of the freshest, in-season fruits and vegetables, making it a must for any foodie or home chef.

Philip Judson describes Halsey Farm & Nursery as “the Metropolitan Museum of Fruits & Vegetables,” with its vibrant and artful displays of produce and flowers. This family-owned farm has been cultivated by the Halsey family since 1747, spanning multiple generations. “I love supporting local businesses like Halsey, especially when they’ve been farming the same land for over 275 years,” Judson says. The farm also offers a wide selection of vegetable seedlings and fresh-picked produce, perfect for both gardening enthusiasts and home cooks alike.

Wickham Farms & Hallock’s Cider Mill (Cutchogue & Laurel)

For a sweet escape, Denise Wallenstein recommends Wickham Farms in Cutchogue and Hallock’s Cider Mill (pictured at top) in Laurel. “Wickham Farms has the best apple cider donuts, right out of the fryer!” Wallenstein exclaims. And if they run out? Their breads and pastries won’t disappoint. Over at Hallock’s Cider Mill, it’s the berry pies and chowder that steal the show, alongside an array of mustards, jams, and desserts that are perfect for stocking up before the holidays.

Harbes Family Farm (Mattituck)

Families will love a day at Harbes Family Farm in Mattituck, a fall wonderland filled with hayrides, barn animals, pumpkins, and apple picking. “Harbes offers everything for a perfect autumn day,” said Wallenstein, adding that the farm also features an ice cream stand to wrap up the visit on a sweet note.
