Real estate is about results. Susan is not sidetracked or discouraged by the obstacles that always crop up. "Real estate transactions are a fascinating combination of emotion, finance, and practicality," she says. "Understanding and managing the balance between my clients' needs and Manhattan market reality is never dull!"

Susan was born into the business, with a father who devoted his professional life to building homes, and she has a natural empathy that makes friends of strangers in 20 minutes or less. But she brings more than charm to the table; after 25 years of success and over $300 million in sales, Susan has quick access to a great team of lawyers, mortgage brokers, stagers and others helpful to the process. She always has a strategy in place to keep discussions on track and bring them to a successful conclusion.

Like the best of New York City, Susan is smart, honest, hardworking, and often funny. She can be tough, demanding, and insistent as needed, but always with cheerfulness and grace.

Susan has a degree in Psychology from Cornell University and a Master's in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. She can be found in all seasons enjoying Central Park, and rowing her single scull on Long Island Sound, a pursuit that helped her team win numerous national championships in her racing days. She is also a creative knitter whose designs have been published in Vogue Knitting magazine.

"I have had the privilege to work with Ms. Susan Katz on various high-end real estate matters. Susan is the consummate professional, knowledgeable, skilled, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. Susan is committed to fulfilling her clients' goals in an efficient and always helpful and professional manner. I highly recommend Susan for successful results in real estate matters." - Jay G.

"I highly recommend Susan Katz to you for your real estate transaction. Susan represented me in the sale of 137 West 13th Street in 2017. It was a complex sale in that it involved interactions with multiple potential buyers, with tenants, the eventual buyer, and NY Surrogate's Court, and was further complicated by my residing across the country. She took the lead in getting the sale arranged and completed. She kept me fully informed during the process. Along the way, she provided introductions to people for additional services that I needed for clearing and cleaning of an apartment within the building. Susan made a very difficult situation one that was much easier and more manageable for me." - Jesse K.

"Eighteen years ago, when our youngest was a baby, we decided to leave the city for a home in CT and had the good fortune to connect with Susan Katz as we house-hunted. Susan understood exactly what we wanted, quickly found us the one-of-a-kind antique house we were looking for, and guided us expertly through a complicated sale process. Years later, with our "baby" heading for college, we decided it was time for an apartment in the city and reached out to Susan again. As we knew she would, Susan once again intuited our desires better than we could explain them and guided us efficiently to the unique prewar apartment that she knew we would love. Susan never hard-sells, up-sells, or wastes her clients' time; she listens, finds just the right thing, and provides support and great advice throughout the purchase and sale process." - Elizabeth S. and Peter H.

"I'm back in NYC (for a hot second) and want to take a few minutes to express my gratitude to you. Purchasing this apartment was emotional and stressful for me in so many ways. Now that I'm back from traveling (for the next 7 days...) and starting to unpack boxes, I'm falling in love with this apartment more and more by the moment. (In fact, I'm so enamored that I can't go to sleep tonight because I'm so excited about unpacking.) Moving here is a big event in my life, and I am so very grateful to have had rock stars including you supporting me every step of the way. It's amazing how seemingly random connections we make in life turn out to be such important relationships.

Thank you for caring about me personally in addition to your commission and making that so apparent in the way you do business. Thank you for introducing me to lawyers and bankers I could trust. Thank you for doing much of the heavy lifting associated with my apartment application package. Thank you for being kind and honest and understanding. Thank you for being so very responsive at all times regarding every little detail. Thank you for coming to my office to pick things up or fill out paperwork or whatever needed to be done. Thank you for making me feel comfortable. Thank you for being you."

"Working with Susan was a pleasure. She is a no-nonsense, amicable professional who intrinsically understands the market. Listen to her. She does her research. Her suggestions are based on fact and a feel for the market. She will not tell you what you want to hear; she will tell you what you need to hear. Our co-op sold on day one because she positioned it perfectly." - Ron G.

I wanted to take this opportunity to give you a heartfelt thanks on the wonderful job you did in selling my co-op. You were amazing. I was seriously worried that the co-op would never sell—it had been on the market before with zero interest. You came along and managed to generate more interest in a short amount of time than all those months/year before combined. I was blown away by how expertly you handled this deal…You were on top of everything [and] you always kept me in the loop. Whenever I had questions or needed information, you were there.

This sale happened and was successfully navigated because of you. I can say that you are the best real estate agent that I have ever encountered. Not only were you competent and savvy in sales, but you were, and are, a pleasure to deal with. I look forward to working with you on the sale of my other co-op. I know I am in good hands. – Anna A.
