Michael’s first visit to New York City was a spring break trip in his sophomore year of college, and one long view from the airplane window left him smitten. He knew he was destined to live here. It took almost 2 decades for that to become a reality, but frequent business trips to NYC and moves to other large cities during those years only reinforced his passion for New York.
A bachelor’s degree in interior design and a “first job” in the design studio of a department store exposed him to the world of buying and merchandising which he took to naturally. He quickly moved thru the ranks of management at some of the best stores in the US before landing a corporate product development position at Marshall Field & Company in Chicago – a dream job for someone who loved luxury products as much as he liked to travel the world. The years that followed MF & Co. were spent planning and opening a 4-unit men’s specialty shop in Boston, a stint at Abercrombie & Fitch, Speedo, and a boutique design firm in Soho in Manhattan. For the past 15 years he has been a director in luxury eyewear working for global industry leaders Safilo and Luxottica.
Michael has lived on the same block of East 57th Street for over 20 years and has a knowledge and understanding of New York neighborhoods and the qualities that set each apart. A long career in corporate luxury retail buying and decades of buying and selling property have given him unique qualifications to enter into the real estate profession. His exceptional good taste, outgoing personality and quick wit have served him well as he interacted and worked effectively with colleagues, co-workers and vendors in the US, Europe and Asia.
