Chelsea Silvernell was born and raised in New York City and has lived everywhere from the Upper East Side to the West Village, from the Upper West Side to Harlem. She prides herself on knowing the city like the back of her hand. A former big firm lawyer. Chelsea spent years working with high powered and demanding clients where stakes were high and time was scarce. She developed her skills for communicating with clients who didn't always see eye to eye and finding creative solutions to what may at first seem to be daunting obstacles. Recognizing she thrived in a fast-paced environment, Chelsea spent ten years running the recruiting divisions of several prominent legal staffing companies, managing teams and staffing projects of up to 100 lawyers across the United States and abroad.
Always passionate about theater, Chelsea launched and served as the Executive Director of an award-winning theater company, 3Graces Theater Co., committed to developing the voices of new playwrights and telling socially relevant women's stories on stage. As a seasoned performer and producer, Chelsea knows how to generate a "buzz'" and build an audience -- whether that be for an opening night -- or open house. She is at home in both the corporate and artistic worlds and prides herself on being able to creatively navigate a broad range of "the unexpected" in order meet her clients' expectations of excellence and get the job done with grace and integrity.
With her finger on the pulse of Manhattan real estate, Chelsea set her eyes on Harlem 18 years ago and bought a brownstone where she lives with her partner and 7-year-old twins. She intimately understands what it means to take risks, the anxiety that can come with making the biggest purchase of your life and the importance of finding a place to call home in this wonderful but sometimes crazy city.
Chelsea is a graduate of the Riverdale Country School, Vassar College and Emory Law School where she served on the Law Review. She loves all things New York City and has even run the New York Marathon (once!).
Testimonials
My husband and I moved from the West Village to Harlem, and we feel so lucky to have worked with Chelsea, who was the listing agent for our wonderful new apartment. As any New Yorker knows, the moving process is definitely not one of the highlights of living in this city - the apartment search and application process is stressful at best, and it takes an enormous amount of time and organization even just to keep things on track. But from start to finish, Chelsea was a joy to work with. Throughout the whirlwind process, she responded to every email and question we sent her with prompt, thorough answers, and she proactively offered options and solutions that kept things as streamlined possible. When a competing bid came in for our apartment at the last minute, I was extremely impressed with Chelsea's honest and straightforward communication and the integrity with which she approached the situation. On top of that, her dedication to keeping us informed - even sending emails to keep us apprised late on a Friday night and first thing on a Saturday morning - made it much easier on us as we waited to hear how things would turn out. And once we successfully secured the apartment (phew!), she went out of her way to help us communicate questions and requests to our new landlords and make sure everything was perfect in the weeks leading up to our move. Chelsea brings the perfect balance of professionalism, warmth, and candor to a process that is often confusing and stressful, no matter how many times you go through it. She truly goes above and beyond to ensure that everything is as seamless as possible, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking to move in New York. - Emily GChelsea Silvernell was our trusted agent for the rental of our condominium in Harlem. We could not be happier with her work and professionalism. Chelsea's work was impeccable. She was attentive to every detail of the process, starting with really understanding her client's needs, to making suggestions on the best marketing strategies for our apartment, to easily managing visits and overseeing a smooth signing process. She also established a transparent and clear communication between all parties that made the process flawless. We are grateful for her assistance and could not be happier with the tenants and how fast everything took place.
Chelsea's diligence in following up and overseeing all details of this process together with her genuine interest in finding the best tenants for our apartment make her the best broker we have worked with. Also, she has a great energy. One can have incredibly interesting conversations with her! - Jodi D and Jerome BCurrent Listings
