Carol grew up listening to her father’s stories about finding a family the right home. “Making the perfect match requires you to listen, and take all of someone’s heartfelt needs and wants into consideration.” Wise words indeed from a 65-year real estate veteran.
This is what she also thought about in 1999 when she moved her family to Montclair from Park Slope, Brooklyn. For Carol, Montclair held similar charms: walkability, diversity, beautiful homes, neighborhood shops, hip restaurants, as well as great theatres and shopping. The town’s strong sense of community was a tremendous draw.
At the time, with a second grader and pre-kindergartener, a deciding factor was the top-rated school system. Since then, the oldest two of her three children have gone on to graduate college and her third is now entering Montclair High School.
Carol’s corporate achievements are remarkable. As an account executive with Katz Media and then MMT Sales, she was known as a sharp negotiator who closed deals with a soft touch. She was the first woman at Katz Media to be promoted to sales from within the company, paving the way for many to follow. But her recipe for success includes balancing family life and a strong commitment to community service.
From day one, Carol found it easy to get involved with the community through the PTA at her children’s schools. Whether on the executive board or serving as PTA President at Northeast School, Carol chaired too many fundraisers to count. Her people skills were always her best asset.
Since moving to Montclair, Carol has lived in three fabulous homes; each one architecturally different and each rich with its own story. She has recently renovated her current 112-year old home, carefully preserving its integrity while modernizing the kitchen and family room. That experience, along with previous home improvements, has given her a wealth of resources and insights into the home renovation process.
Carol provides her clients with first-hand knowledge of home buying and selling, renovation, and everything related to raising a family in New Jersey. She loves to explore the unique qualities of each house from its distinct architectural features, to the nature that surrounds it, and the way these elements come together.
Let Carol show you around Montclair, Glen Ridge, Verona, Bloomfield, Cedar Grove, Little Falls, or anywhere in northern New Jersey. There is so much to do and discover! The Wellmont Theatre, The Montclair Art Museum, the film and literary festivals, the farmer’s markets, beautiful parks, nature, and of course our renowned restaurants are all part of a thriving community.
Whether you are looking to buy, sell, rent or invest, Carol can expertly guide you every step of the way. Where you live is an essential part of your life story. Let Carol help you write the next chapter.
If you are planning on selling your home, I hope you’ll consider using Carol Apprendi as your listing agent. My husband Jerome and I have sold four separate homes in the past 20 years. Our experience working with Carol (for the first time), in selling our beloved house (during a pandemic, no less!) exceeded our expectations, by miles and miles. Carol spear-headed market analysis, staging, and marketing in a realistic and effective way for us. She gave a tremendous amount of her time and energy, enlisting amazing stagers and movers, and was physically present when needed. She was honest and candid (and entirely accurate) about what buyers expect in this market, and what we needed to do to make our house as sellable as possible.
Carol was also incredibly organized, savvy, responsive, detail-oriented, and thorough. She helped us get a tax reassessment that saved us thousands of dollars. She followed through on EVERYTHING. Ultimately, with her planning and guidance, Carol helped us sell our home very quickly, for much more than we expected. Furthermore, her diplomacy helped us navigate the delicate negotiations after attorney review and inspections. Carol made an arduous and stressful process very successful, always with a bright smile and an incredible work ethic. We could not recommend her more highly. You will certainly enjoy working with Carol. – Jennifer F.
