The BHS Agent Spotlight on Patrick Hazlewood

This week, we spotlight Patrick Hazlewood, recently recruited from Douglas Elliman to our East Side office. In the interview, he shares his perspective on the current Manhattan market, a key hospitality tip that applies to real estate, his favorite neighborhood in the city, and more.

You recently joined BHS’s East Side Office after being at Elliman and were recruited by multiple firms… why did you decide BHS was best for your business?

BHS has always had a singular reputation as one of the finest brokerages in the industry. The white-glove, discreet service paired with an intuitive understanding of clients’ needs—even when they’re not totally sure what those are—was hugely persuasive. Add to that the accessibility of leadership at every level and their genuine desire to see agents flourish, and BHS felt like the perfect fit.

How do you see the Manhattan market performing right now based on your recent client experiences?

As I mentioned in my recent video, despite fluctuations nationwide, Manhattan remains as steady and competitive as ever. It continues to be a solid investment, whether you’re buying, selling, or renting. I’m seeing bidding wars at all levels and in both markets, and that’s where our expertise at BHS becomes invaluable. We’re not just agents—we’re guides through the city’s complex, ever-shifting real estate landscape.

You were previously a lifestyle manager for one of the nation’s top concierge firms—what’s one hospitality tip that applies to real estate?

Listen. Really listen. Understanding who your client is—their taste, preferences, lifestyle—makes all the difference. It’s not just about finding a home that checks boxes on paper, but about matching them with a space that feels right to them. That nuance is where the hospitality mindset truly crosses over into real estate.

After your career in modeling, what takeaways influence your business and brand today?

Modeling taught me how to define personal style and separate what’s trendy from what’s timeless. I’ve developed a clear sense of what works for me, my brand, and my lifestyle. I lean classic, but I’m not afraid of a little edge—especially for a red carpet. I’ve been lucky to have designers dress me, which lets me push the envelope just enough while still staying on brand. Style and presentation speak volumes, and those lessons—from posture to polish—still guide me today.

Favorite neighborhood in New York City—and why?

SUCH a hard one… but I’ll go with SoHo! There’s just a buzz there—the boutiques, the restaurants, the boutique hotels—it’s electric all year round. There’s always something happening, and it still manages to feel intimate and stylish at the same time.

As a born-and-bred New Yorker, what’s the one quintessential NY experience everyone must have in their lifetime?

Without question: the US Open—the week before the tournament officially starts. It’s qualifying week, and not only do you get to watch up-and-coming players battle for a spot in the main draw, but you’ll also spot the sport’s biggest stars practicing and relaxing before the madness begins. Oh—and it’s free. It’s the best-kept secret in NYC sports culture.

Share something few people know about you.

Few people know that I earned my law degree in London. While I ultimately chose not to practice, the experience sharpened my analytical skills and deepened my understanding of contracts, negotiation, and international perspective—tools that now serve me daily in real estate. It’s a background that clients are often pleasantly surprised to learn I bring to the table.

Share a photo on your camera roll that means a lot to you—and tell us why.

This photo is of my brother Arthur, my beloved mother Paula, and me at an awards ceremony honoring my father, who received the William Gies Award for Excellence in Dentistry. It was one of the last big events we attended as a family before we lost Arthur to pancreatic cancer, and later my mother to a stroke. We were beaming with pride for my father, and this photo captures so much love, loss, and legacy.

Share one of your goals for 2025.

I have two. First, to build on the momentum and support I’ve found at Brown Harris Stevens and help even more clients realize their real estate dreams (my motto is “Matching Dreams with NYC Addresses”). Second, to continue expanding my personal investment portfolio. I believe in practicing what I preach.
