In 1974 Joyce Raskin emerged from the subway at Borough Hall to meet some friends for lunch and fell in love with Brooklyn. Within a year she was living in Brooklyn Heights. Since then, living, working and raising a family in Brooklyn, she has witnessed its evolution from a reference of proximity to Manhattan into a most desirable place to call home.
An avid explorer and learner, Joyce believes her many interests have converged to bring her to real estate. An attorney with a masters’ degree in the business of art, Joyce combines practical knowledge with aesthetic vision to help people find and create the sanctuary that she believes a home is.
Having purchased, renovated and sold her own homes, gone along with friends as the trusted friend and advisor on apartment and house hunts, and also worked as a design consultant to a renovation company, Joyce has honed an array of skills that provide her clients with more than just taking them to view property.
Joyce believes the best way to represent her clients is to listen. She will not waste a client’s time by showing a stream of unsuitable properties just to seem busy finding the right place. Sharing her love of Brooklyn means finding the best home in the right neighborhood. Her favorite moment is seeing the “this is it” look in a client’s eyes. Known for conducting business with integrity and attention to detail, Joyce is respected and well liked among both clients and peers.
Home for Joyce is Cobble Hill where she is also a landlord. She makes a habit of adding to her knowledge of Brooklyn by periodically walking its neighborhoods for updates.
Continuing a lifetime of community involvement and volunteer work, Joyce currently serves on the Institutional Review Board at New York University Langone Medical Center and The Committee on Legal Problems of the Aging at the City Bar Association.
