New York City has it all, from a vibrant, diverse mentropolitan lifestyle to, yes, lush green spaces and parks! Perhaps one thing some may underestimate regarding the "concrete jungle" is the wealth of natural beauty and recreational offerings it provides--you just have to know where to look!
As residents and area experts, our Brown Harris Stevens NYC Agents are well-versed in the best locations for colorful autumn foliage throughout New York City. All are a must for anyone wanting to enjoy the season and have the perfect fall photo-op. Here are their recommendations.
Manhattan
"My favorite spot to see the fall foliage is overlooking the iconic Bethesda Terrace Fountain in Central Park. I love taking walks across Central Park and have lived on the Upper East Side for 26 years." - Amy Herman, Brown Harris Stevens Agent
Central Park is a true labyrinth, offering acres of impeccably manicured grounds designed specifically to be picturesque and transportive. BHS Agent Francesca Albarrán highlighted the Central Park Pond (pictured above) for panoramic foliage views that are truly postcard-worthy. For an even more immersive experience, consider renting a boat from the Central Park Boathouse.
"I live in the Flatiron District, so I love going to Madison Square Park with my dog for the beautiful fall foliage!" - Francesca Albarrán, Brown Harris Stevens Agent
While smaller than Central Park, Madison Square Park is equally rich with colorful vegetation during the fall. It's alovely place to picnic while admiring the Flatiron District's historic architecture.
The Bronx
"I have been a longtime member and volunteer at Wave Hill and look forward to attending their Fall Gardeners Party Gala on Thursday." - Denis Haxhija, Brown Harris Stevens Agent
Perhaps one of NYC's best-hidden gems, Wave Hill Park offers sweeping views of the Hudson River and the tree-lined cliffs that line it. During fall, the park becomes a seasonal oasis, with autumnal plantings and foliage that are awe-inspriing.
While in town, you can also visit the New York Botanical Garden, which is particularly beautiful between the months of September and November and offers several exhibits centered around preservation.
