You’ve designed high-end homes in New York City, The Hamptons, New Jersey, Westchester, Connecticut, Nantucket, and Aspen – can you tell me about some of your favorites?
They are all my favorites in their special way. However, my most favorite was the Aspen project, as it was high up on Red mountain with the most breathtaking views. It had large windows and the décor very much fit the surroundings; rustic, chic, and modern living in the mountains. I also designed a beautiful outdoor living room/kitchen that overlooked the pool. I'm looking forward to doing another project in Aspen sometime soon.
What do you recommend clients look for when picking out luxury fabrics for their home?
First, it depends on how they will be using the space. If you have pets, young children etc, you may want to stay away from silk or hard to clean fabrics. I love using texture with fabrics. If you are choosing one or two colors, you can really create a lot of interest with different textures.
What are your favorite interior design stores ?
I love Minotti. They are what I call "Italian excellene" for both indoor an outdoor design, with over 32 brands under their umbrella. I also like Crate & Barrel or MGBW as more cost-effective alternatives.
What are the top trending color palettes for 2023?
Some of the top design trends are neutrals paired against warmer, moody tones.
How do you navigate choosing jewel tones and splashes of color?
It always comes down to the client and what they like. I tend to design in neutrals and warmer colors but always add a splash of, perhaps, rose pink, powder blue, or lavender. If a client's favorite color is emerald green, I will always work that in to the décor seamlessly. Powder rooms are always a good space for experimenting with color.
