The saying 'New Year, New You' isn’t just about personal growth—it’s also a great opportunity to refresh your surroundings. If updating your home décor is on your mind, the new year brings a wealth of design trend insights for 2025 to help guide your choices and spark inspiration.
Elle Decor’s A-List designers have shared their predictions for the top interior design trends of 2025, highlighting recurring themes of wellness, relaxation, and comfort—fitting ideas as we close out a polarizing election year. Interior designer Brigette Romanek notes, “People are seeking spaces within their homes that let them recharge.”
Zillow’s analysis of millions of real estate listings reinforces this perspective. Mentions of the word “cozy” increased by 35% compared to last year, while “nostalgia” appeared 14% more often. “Homeowners and buyers today are looking to the past to create a sense of warmth, character, and comfort in even the most high-tech environments,” explains Amanda Pendleton, Zillow’s home trends expert.
According to the design experts polled by Elle Decor, 2025’s eight key trends include: wellness-focused spaces, use of clay and ceramics, elevated earth tones, a return to classic furniture, artful lighting, nature-inspired elements, an emphasis on comfort, and highly individualized interiors.
Laura Williams, principal designer and founder of ATX Interior Design, confirms that warm tones will dominate in 2025, with Pantone’s Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse, leading the charge of earthy hues for the home. She anticipates darker woods paired with moody tones becoming focal points in various spaces, emphasizing that “dramatic and natural finishes will work together over time, creating interiors that feel both approachable and beautiful.”
Mansion Global turned to interior design experts to explore what lies ahead in 2025. In summary, maximalism is making a bold comeback with an emphasis on drama, boldness, and “drenching” spaces in rich colors. This revival of the “more is more” philosophy brings a curated elegance, where striking details and vibrant palettes will take center stage.
There is a clear consensus across the board: earth tones will maintain their popularity from 2024, continuing to be a focal point, while individuality will also take the spotlight.
Bespoke furniture—defined by craftsmanship, sustainability, and personalization—will be a major trend, showcasing the growing demand for unique, thoughtfully designed interiors.
Ultimately, design is a deeply personal journey, and these trends are meant to inspire rather than dictate. The most important thing is creating a home that feels comfortable and uniquely yours. Whether you’re working with a modest budget or planning a more significant investment, there are countless ways to achieve your vision—through DIY projects or with the help of a professional. If you’re considering updating your space, I’d be happy to recommend talented interior designers I work with to help bring your ideas to life.
