In recent years, West Palm Beach has emerged as a dynamic destination for both locals and newcomers, with its appeal evolving far beyond a seasonal getaway. As more residents from around the U.S. choose to make West Palm Beach their permanent home, the city’s real estate landscape is rapidly transforming to meet heightened demand.
In this Q&A, Brown Harris Stevens Sales Director Sabra Kirkpatrick shares insights on the booming market for new developments, highlights some of the most exciting projects underway, and offers expert advice for prospective buyers looking to find their perfect home in Palm Beach County.
How do you see the demand for new developments evolving in West Palm Beach, particularly with the increasing influx of residents from other states?
As documented, West Palm Beach is growing at warp speed! Young locals are staying put, not moving to NYC right out of college, and are instead choosing to start their careers at home, eventually deepening their roots and raising their families here as well. "Snowbirds" are staying as well. They are now calling WPB home, rather than a vacation destination like in years past. The demand for both single-famiy homes and condos is at an all time high. Developers have moved into downtown WPB and are building magnificent structures in the sky (which is a fairly new phenomenon for the area). They are filling the void by going vertical while also helping attract new fabulous restaurants, boutiques, designers, artists and much more!
What new development are you most excited about currently?
I'm super excited about The South Flagler House. It will feature 108 residences and was designed by Robert A.M. Stern. The renderings are gorgeous! The amenities are top notch and the design is going to stand out in the skyline.
What advice do you have for buyers coming to the area over the next year?
I would first suggest that they link up with a knowledgeable Realtor who has been selling homes in the county for years. There are so many pockets of Palm Beach County and with the right agent, a Buyer should land in the right neighborhood for their lifestyle. Next, I would suggest visiting homes in many neighborhoods, historic and non-historic areas alike. Some neighborhoods are walkable whereas others offer larger plots of land with more green space. Some even offer smaller, more lock-and-go historic homes that ooze charm and nostalgia. There is something for everyone, you just need to know where to look!
